As most everyone I know can attest – summer presents us with a massive influx of birthday parties and baby showers. Some say it must be something in the water. I think our species just gets a little bored as winter sets in. The results of the ensuing ‘extracurricular activities’ often are the cause for both our greatest summer joys as well as our annual summer chaos. Yes, ladies – we’re talking about babies!

In my own quest to document the seemingly endless stream of new births occurring with friends and family I find it tremendously helpful when I stumble across embellishments that help make my scrapbooking time move along more productively. Our new chipboard prompts, dimensional baby word stickers and baby journal stickers are great! I especially love the dimensional baby word stickers – these are some of the cutest I have over seen. I like to use one on each spread and make it the focal point while rub-ons and other embellishments to create a soft background.

I find this collection of card stock to be one that I go back to again and again as a basis for many of my designs. I tend to start with solid colors and develop other interesting elements from there. Plus if I;m ever at a loss for where to start - I just pick out the color of whatever month it happens to me and start with that!

Looking at my collection of stamping inks I can’t help but think of all the possibilities that color brings to the creative palette. It may seem like an obvious statement - that color provides increased creative possibilities… but I’m hungry and thinking about which pattern I’ll use to make my next piece of wrapping paper and in what color… this has my stomach growling with delight at the thought of heading to the kitchen for some yummy time! All because of the my hungry head associates colors with food!

The carousel of StazOn ink pads sitting in front of me has me daydreaming in Technicolor. If I could cook with color I’d have a fantastic feast on my hands. I’d have fresh red tomatoes, the earthy green of a nice pesto, the creamy white of rich mozzarella, the subtle brown of fresh baked bread crusts; altogether forming a most scrumptious bruschetta - and then the irresistible purple hue of blueberries piled high atop vanilla cream for desert. That’s what I’d have right now anyway. Plenty of other options for my next fine meal

I’ve mentioned before that my favorite part of scrapbooking is the paper. I absolutely love decorative scrapbook paper. I was a fan of paper before I knew anything about the art of scrapbooking itself. Hence, I often find myself buying tons of paper patterns before I have any idea at all what I might do with them. If I had my druthers I’d wallpaper my entire house with scrapbook paper - each room would be decorated with one of my favorite manufacturers. So let me give you an idea of what my house might look like!
